I am Suriya Subramanian. I used to blog at Livejournal. I am a Graduate Student. My daily work is research involving digging deep into and modifying Java VMs. I regularly follow programming.reddit.com.

I am an active volunteer with Vibha, a non-profit organization that aims to provide a brighter future for children. Please visit their website and see the wonderful grassroots projects they support.

My blog posts reflect my interests outside of my daily work. I am interested in non-profits, especially those that work for children. I am also interested in politics and public policy. I am not interested in partisan politics, and arguing who is better — left or right, Democrats or Republicans, Congress or BJP, DMK or AIADMK. To me they are all bad in their own ways. I am interested in talking and writing about policy positions that I think make sense.
